What is the reason that the video chat is not working?

There are several factors that can impact the functionality of video chat. Here are a few you can check:

  1. Verify if video chat is enabled in Site roles. For group conversations, check the ‘Groups’ section; for private conversations, look under ‘Private Conversations.
  2. For Group Conversations, Verify if video chat is enabled in Group roles.
  3. If video or audio chat doesn’t show up in the group header, ensure that video chat or audio chat is enabled in the ‘Edit Group‘ settings.
  4. Ensure you are using the latest PHP version, 8.3 or higher, and verify that the ‘Sodium‘ PHP extension is enabled on your server.
  5. If you’re experiencing issues specifically with video chat in groups, please verify that ‘Participant‘ is selected in the ‘Video/Audio Chat Access Level (Groups)‘ field in both Site roles and Group roles. The ‘Viewer‘ option restricts users from participating in the video chat while still allowing them to view the ongoing conversation. Be sure to check this setting in both Site roles and Group roles.
  6. If you’re encountering issues with video chat in groups, ensure that you are a member of the group. Even if you are an admin with super privileges, you can view the group chat without joining, but to enable video chat functionality, you must be a member of that group
  7. Ensure that you have entered the correct credentials for the selected video chat service. Additionally, verify that you have sufficient balance in your video chat service account. We recommend checking your service provider account for details.
  8. Make sure to check if the camera and microphone are enabled on your browser and device.
  9. Check if any firewall, VPN service, or browser add-on is blocking your request.
